Should I negotiate my severance? - what worked for you?

I was offered 6 weeks of severance after 6 years as a graphic designer, and I have a few days to sign. I am in St. Louis, in case local advice matters. There is a non-disparagement clause.

An hour with an employment lawyer cost me a small fee and made me feel much safer about signing.
