Should I negotiate my severance? (Oklahoma City)

I was offered 8 weeks of severance after 8 years as an accounts payable clerk, and I have a few days to sign. It includes health coverage for a couple of months.

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
