Should I negotiate my severance?, IT help-desk technician here

I was offered 11 weeks of severance after 11 years as an IT help-desk technician, and I have a few days to sign. I have been trying to stay organised about it. There is a non-disparagement clause. What did you ask for?

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
