Should I negotiate my severance? - first time posting

I was offered 8 weeks of severance after 8 years as a mechanic, and I have a few days to sign. I worked as a mechanic before this. It includes health coverage for a couple of months. Should I see a lawyer?

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.
