Should I negotiate my severance? (Chicago)

I was offered 6 weeks of severance after 6 years as a paralegal, and I have a few days to sign. Any experience at all would help. It includes health coverage for a couple of months. What did you ask for?

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
