Should I negotiate my severance? - any advice?

I was offered 12 weeks of severance after 12 years as a software tester, and I have a few days to sign. I am in Columbus, in case local advice matters. It includes health coverage for a couple of months. What did you ask for?

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
