Severance offer, what should I ask for?

I was offered 14 weeks of severance after 14 years as an electrician's helper, and I have a few days to sign. I am in Memphis, in case local advice matters. There is a non-disparagement clause. What did you ask for?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 4 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.
