Severance offer, what should I ask for? - any advice?

I was offered 17 weeks of severance after 17 years as an office manager, and I have a few days to sign. Any experience at all would help. I do not want to leave money on the table. Did anyone negotiate and succeed?

An hour with an employment lawyer cost me a small fee and made me feel much safer about signing.
