Severance offer, what should I ask for? - 8 weeks in

I was offered 6 weeks of severance after 6 years as a delivery driver, and I have a few days to sign. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I do not want to leave money on the table. What did you ask for?

An hour with an employment lawyer cost me a small fee and made me feel much safer about signing.

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.
