Severance offer, what should I ask for? - 8 months and counting

I was offered 5 weeks of severance after 5 years as a teaching assistant, and I have a few days to sign. It includes health coverage for a couple of months. Did anyone negotiate and succeed?

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
