Severance offer, what should I ask for? - 2 months and counting

I was offered 9 weeks of severance after 9 years as a forklift operator, and I have a few days to sign. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. It includes health coverage for a couple of months. Should I see a lawyer?

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.
