Severance agreement arrived, need a second opinion (update)

The company sent a severance agreement with a release of claims, and I am unsure what to do. Any experience at all would help. There is a non-disparagement clause. Should I see a lawyer?

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
