Severance agreement arrived, need a second opinion after 12 years as a recruiter

The company sent a severance agreement with a release of claims, and I am unsure what to do. I worked as a recruiter before this. I do not want to leave money on the table. Should I see a lawyer?

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
