Severance agreement arrived, need a second opinion - 5 months and counting

I was offered 4 weeks of severance after 4 years as a recruiter, and I have a few days to sign. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. There is a non-disparagement clause. Should I see a lawyer?

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.

Ask for the offer in writing and do not sign on the spot. A day or two to think is normal.
