After a layoff as a hotel front-desk agent I am finding mornings difficult. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I keep comparing myself with friends who are working. What helps you on bad days?

Many counselling centres have sliding-scale rates. I found one through 211, and it made a difference.
