Making savings last after losing my job - what worked for you?

I have 13 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a teaching assistant. This is my first time dealing with any of this. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
