Making savings last after losing my job - what worked for you?

I have 8 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a line cook. There are 9 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Rent and the car are the biggest costs.

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $100 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.
