Making savings last after losing my job - what worked for you?

We are a household of 6 and need to cut costs quickly. I am in Seattle, in case local advice matters. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $200 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.
