Making savings last after losing my job - what worked for you?

I have 6 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a customer-service rep. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
