Making savings last after losing my job - what worked for you?

I have 2 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a janitorial supervisor. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
