Making savings last after losing my job - first time posting

We are a household of 13 and need to cut costs quickly. I have been trying to stay organised about it. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
