Making savings last after losing my job (Chicago)

I have 5 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as an HR coordinator. Any experience at all would help. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. Did any lender work with you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
