Making savings last after losing my job - any advice?

I have 9 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a line cook. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
