Making savings last after losing my job - any advice?

We are a household of 14 and need to cut costs quickly. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am nervous about the credit card minimums. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $150 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.
