Making savings last after losing my job - 5 months and counting

I have 5 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a medical assistant. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
