Making savings last after losing my job

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. There are 16 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $250 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
