Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? - what worked for you?

Three companies in Buffalo cut staff in the same month. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
