Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? - any advice?

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
