Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? - any advice?

Three companies in Richmond cut staff in the same month. I am in Richmond, in case local advice matters. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
