Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? - any advice?

Three companies in Birmingham cut staff in the same month. I have been trying to stay organised about it. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
