Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? after 3 years as a welding apprentice

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. There are 3 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?
