Layoffs across my industry, where did you pivot? after 18 years as a teaching assistant

Three companies in Sacramento cut staff in the same month. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
