Layoff notice, what does the 60 days mean?

My employer announced that the site will close and gave us written notice. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. They offered a retention bonus for people who stay. Has anyone been through this?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I stayed for the retention bonus and looked for work on the side. It cushioned the gap.
