Layoff happened 8 days ago, feeling lost - any advice?

They called a meeting on Thursday and 8 of us were let go. I had been there 8 years. It has been a long 7 weeks. I have not told my family yet. What did you do in the first week?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
