I lost my job as an accounts payable clerk and I am not sure what to do first. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Which steps were urgent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
