Layoff happened 10 days ago, feeling lost

I was let go as a mechanic this week and I am still in shock. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have not told my family yet. What did you do in the first week?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.
