Last week of benefits, options? after 13 years as a welding apprentice

My unemployment benefits end in 21 weeks and I have not found work as a welding apprentice. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I wonder about extended programmes or help from local agencies. What did you do after benefits ran out?

I took a temp job while I kept looking. It covered rent, and the agency sent me to a permanent job within a couple of months.
