Laid off this week, where do I start? - what worked for you?

I was let go as a customer-service rep this week and I am still in shock. I am in Atlanta, in case local advice matters. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Which steps were urgent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
