Laid off this week, where do I start? - what worked for you?

They called a meeting on Thursday and 8 of us were let go. I had been there 8 years. I worked as a data-entry clerk before this. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Which steps were urgent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
