Laid off this week, where do I start? - what worked for you?

I was let go as a sales associate this week and I am still in shock. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
