Laid off this week, where do I start? (update)

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 8 of us were let go. I had been there 8 years. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Which steps were urgent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
