Laid off this week, where do I start? (update)

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 9 of us were let go. I had been there 9 years. I have not told my family yet. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
