Laid off this week, where do I start? (update)

I was let go as an insurance claims processor this week and I am still in shock. I have not told my family yet. Which steps were urgent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
