Laid off this week, where do I start? after 4 years as an electrician's helper

I was let go as an electrician's helper this week and I am still in shock. It has been a long 21 weeks. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
