Laid off this week, where do I start? - 24 weeks in

I lost my job as a quality inspector and I am not sure what to do first. Any experience at all would help. I have not told my family yet. Is there a checklist I should follow?

I made a short list: benefits, bills, documents, and then my résumé. One thing each day kept me steady.

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
