Laid off this week, where do I start? - 12 months and counting

I was let go as a retail manager this week and I am still in shock. Any experience at all would help. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. What did you do in the first week?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I made a short list: benefits, bills, documents, and then my résumé. One thing each day kept me steady.
