Laid off this week, where do I start? - 11 months and counting

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 18 of us were let go. I had been there 18 years. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
