Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

They called a meeting on Thursday and 15 of us were let go. I had been there 15 years. I worked as a line cook before this. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.
