Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I lost my job as an electrician's helper and I am not sure what to do first. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.
