Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I lost my job as a call-centre agent and I am not sure what to do first. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
